When I was about 9 years old, my two older brothers stuck me in a front-loading washing machine and turned it on while they went for a half-hour swim. We lived on a RAAF base and there were banks of open-fronted, angle-barrelled washing machines for the airmen to use in an open building next to the common pool. That day I discovered that you cannot reach the control switches for such a washing machine from inside of it while being spun end-over-end, no matter how much you one-armed-hanging-out flail-about-randomly. "Chaos theory" and "fuzzy logic" be damned - the universe has a plan and it hates you.

Cheers,
Marc (Ahh, the warm comfort and hilarity of childhood memory...[wipes tear from eye])
