Notepad++ is my second-favorite Windows editor (after
gvim 
) but it isn't nearly as wonderful in context, the context of which can be seen in the first post -- WT Sharpe likes Notepad for its simplicity and ability to scrub formatting.
For those features, MS Notepad is hard to beat, since it is bundled with the OS. Sure, you can
manually install programs that... do the same thing, plus extra unneeded features.
