There's some difference in how 3.12.0 handles fonts though, it's been mentioned in GeoffR's patch thread. In 3.11.0 with his patch, some fonts still didn't work correctly when you went to the Advanced Settings. Definitely not all fonts. I just tried with Arno Pro and Adobe Garamond Pro. Neither of these work with the advanced font controls.
Then the device suddenly started displaying the sleep image with the top quarter inch or so all white. This happened to me before but I'm not sure of the cause. Corrupted database? (why do these seem so
fragile?)
So I just did a factory reset with the device updating automatically over wifi to 3.11.0.
