The only time I'd worry about this if it was ridiculously cold. Like there were days last winter where we had a high temperature for the day of -20F (-28C). At that temperature, plastic sometimes starts to get funny, and if the high for the day was -20, then obviously it was colder than that at night. I wouldn't bring an e-reader places with me because I'd be worried about how it would handle it if it got that cold, and especially I accidentally left it in the car and it got that cold for any length of time, like overnight.

But we don't usually have weather that crazy. For normal cold weather, no I don't worry about it. I take my e-readers wherever I want.
