FWIW, I don't see this happening on Kubuntu 14.04.1 (installed from DiapDealer's .deb for 0.8.2) whether or not the preview window is open.

Not really relevant, I know, but there it is.

Edited to add: Taking note of Doitsu's post, I should note that I was using the St. Germaine epub, with preview either floating or docked, and in code view, not book view. Also, I'm running 32 bit Kubuntu. I'll try out Doitsu's procedure (except for 32 vs 64 bit).

Edit #2: Yep, following Doitsu's procedure with the Trail epub, it crashes immediately on deletion if I'm in book view and the preview is open. OTOH, if I'm in code view and no preview, it doesn't crash but if I switch to book view AND open the previewer, it will crash when I attempt to reload the file. No error messages, unless I start sigil from a console. Then, all it says is "segmentation fault (core dumped)"
