You should give it a try and read a while with it and see if the light is distracting to you or not. It is easy to find flaws if you want to find them. However it is up to you to decide if those flaws ruin it for you or not. You might be better off with a refurb PW2? Both my wifes and my own PW1 are not perfect, but it doesn't distract from reading too much. The only thing I wish I had was a higher resolution screen - next to my phone the PW lower resolution really shows.
