I used to read everything he wrote, back when he was being published in the magazines -- was it "If"? or "Galaxy"? Or both?

Anyway, I bought all his Ballantine books and they were incredible. Then, when he turned to co-writing with Jerry Pournelle, I turned away....I'm not sure why, now that I think about it. I may have gone more completely to the dark side----reading HORROR!
