Sorry, my point was did it work with this firmware version before? Or did it work with an older one? There are reports that loading from an SD card got suddenly slower with a firmware version. If you haven't done the full load since before that version, it helps explain what is happening. It doesn't mean it is good or that it isn't something we want Kobo to fix, but it gives us a place to go.

If it is the speed of the firmware version, you could put the older on, load the card and then upgrade. Not an attractive thing to do, but it will get you were you want.

The alternative is to remove a lot of books from the card and put them on in smaller groups.

The other thing is that if it did load the books from the card with the current firmware version and doesn't after a factory reset, that really points to a hardware problem. Of course, the other problem you have also suggests a hardware problem.
