Yeah... the ending did feel a little rushed. I got more of the impression that the author was just trying to finish it up.

I actually spent part of the book thinking it was going to be more of a fantasy novel (a genre that I never read) rather than him playing along with the child's imagination. In retrospect it should have been more obvious, but I was just convinced that it was a different kind of book than it really was. I wonder if that's the reason why some of the bad reviews say that they gave up on the book early -- they thought it was following a different path than it really was.
