Lethal dose for dogs is much, *much* smaller
Theobromine Oral toxicity (mg/kg) - median lethal dose, LD50 (means half the test subject die at this dose)
Cat 200 mg/kg
Dog 300 mg/kg
Human ~1,000 mg/kg
0.4 ounces (11 g) of baker's chocolate would be enough to produce mild symptoms in a 20-pound (9.1 kg) dog

Artificial sweetener Xylithol is acutely toxic for dogs. A single chewing gum sweetened by Xylitol can make a dog very severely ill.
