To make it clearer (and also to verify I understood the current situation): jailbreak, like all jailbreaks and cracks in the world, used a "hole" in the standard coding, a flaw, however you want to call it, something that allow the developer to break in and gain "root access".

With this latest firmware, Amazon has closed that hole; therefore until someone finds a new hole, we're all screwed. Actually it isn't with this latest firmware, but with fw 5.4.something, right?
