Long answer: Probably, but not practical.
Would require hardware modification and/or modification of the Linux kernel.

Side note:
The more common complaint about embedded devices is: "It does not resume fast enough".
You know, like in who wants to wait for their car's dashboard (or kitchen blender) to re-boot?
Amazon/Lab126 has the resume time on the Kindles engineered to require less than 1/2 second. Which is pretty good, even in the world of automotive dashboards.

Gone are the days when the lead operator would IPL the system 360 installation and everybody went home, because it was going to take at least 18 hours to come on-line.
Been there, done that, took the day off myself.
