There is no reason for Amazon to support K4PC any longer. They have the Kindle Cloud Reader that has the same functions with improved layout except the files are encrypted.

Option #2 was less favorable for my particular situation. All the Kindle books I have are free self-pubbed titles. I probably will never read any of them. If somehow Amazon deletes them from my library or they go out-of-business, I wouldn't miss them. However, if someone highly recommends a title that I have, I can download and convert.

Option #3 is probably OK for those just starting out and have few titles. Unfortunately, I have many thousands of Kindle books and it would probably take Calibre days to convert them all and risk conversion errors.

When I asked the IT guys what I should do, they were thinking 5 to 10 years down the road. A Kindle device would be better than relying on K4PC in my situation.
Ohh, goody, so stop throwing out red herrings and paper tigers and actually read the post you 1/9-quoted.
