You CAN use Scribd on both the Nook tablets by Samsung/BN and the Fire HD tablets by Amazon. For the Nook tablets it is available via the Google Play store. For the Fire HD tablets you have to download the APK file from Scribd (don't get it from somewhere else), enable installing from unknown sources, and then simply installing the APK.

Unfortunately, you CAN'T get the horrible Nook app on the Fire HD tablets through the Amazon App Store or directly from Barnes. You have to side-load it by acquiring the APK package from Good e-Reader or 1mobile or some other "alternative" app repository.
