All Voyages have a lighting gradient, as do all Kobo H2Os, for the simple reason that the lights are at the bottom of the screen. It's not a fault: it's just the design. Very few people seem to be concerned about it.

What does bother people is the colour gradient that a small number of people seem to be sensitive to, but which I, for example, don't see visually at all, although I can prove to myself is there by photographic means.
