How about Rhys Bowen's Royal Spyness series? There's a free short story, so that may give you the flavor of the series. Katharine Kellgren is the narrator, and she is fabulous--I don't think I would have enjoyed the series half so much without the narration. I've listened to all the titles except the short story and the most recent title.
