Flash memory, not RAM.
RAM is volatile memory, Flash memory is long-term storage memory that gets saved when you poweroff.
The Nook probably has say 256 MB RAM, like my Kindle.
4GB Flash Memory is about par the course for ereaders, it is that which the Nook partitions.
