Angry Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 vs. Windows 8

I never had this problem under XP or Windows 7, and at first I'd written it off as something weird about my one Windows 8 machine, but my new netbook's doing the same thing.

Every time I open an ebook from outside the Adobe library (which I don't use), when I close the software or exit the book, I get a pop-up window that tells me bookmarking only works on books in the library and asks if I want to copy the book over there. I do not, and I check the "don't ask again" button when I click the "Cancel" button that's as close as I can get to "No". That setting persists exactly as long as the software is running; next time ADE launches, it forgets all about that and asks me again.

And again.

And again.

Does anybody know how to make it stop that, and actually remember the setting between sessions?
