BTW I tried out the kepub thing, and the page turns really were much faster. I ended up converting all the recent books I'm reading. I'd like to eventually do the patches that remove the header and shrink the footer, but I'm not in a hurry for that.

I'm just happy with how easy it is to read on this thing at night, and I'm super glad I didn't just put up with the irritating light of the KV.
It's very easy, however, I ran into a problem with Win 8 on my laptop so take note if you're using Windows 8. I knew for sure I was doing it correctly, but it wouldn't create the patch, and it became a bit maddening. I noticed someone else had the same issue as me and posted about it in the developer's thread.

Using Windows 7 on my work desktop I was able to get it to work without much issue. Good to hear they are going to release new instructions. That will be helpful, I'm sure.

Glad you are using kepubs now. I was surprised to find what a difference it made. Previously when I tried highlighting it was slow going. The screen kept slowing down and flashing, now it's so much smoother. Plus faster in general with everything else. I actually really like the way kepubs render the book too. The more I used them, the more I liked how it looked. I like the title at top and the smaller footer at the bottom with page numbers. If you like the way it renders, you may not even need to bother with the patch.
