I am not being obtuse, I am merely saying such a book doesn't need a subgenre label -- it needs the person who originally mislabeled it as a genre it manifestly is not, smacked in the face and fired. Then you can cross out the "Sci-Fi" part, and write on top "no it isn't, it's horror" and be happy.
