I realize only now, that you call the power-off script from the menu. I first thought the problem occurred when you powered off from nickel. (But probably you did not enabled this function. And I think this might be better so.)

The executable that displays the power-off text displays also the text if you select "info" from the main menu. Is there also the screen rotation?
