The restore process would depend on how the backup was done. It can be as simple as renaming the backup file to KoboReader.sqlite, copying it into the .kobo directory and powercycling your ereader.

For books purchased from Kobo, if you use the sign out option and then re-sign in with the same Kobo ID, your purchased from Kobo ebooks will automatically synchronize.
