Most tablets lowest setting is too bright for me at night, even the Nexus although its a bit better than the Fires were.

My Kindle Fire use to go really dim so what I did was set min brightness to around the old minimum which is pretty dark. Around -40 on the KFHD7.2
I haven't played with it on the Nexus. I never use an app unless the app has a brightness bug. I did buy the pro version just now.
Pro works great on the Kindle Fire! No licensing issues at all!
