It doesn't need to work for the most parts of most of the scenes. Just like any other mishap in a staged, recorded event, when the Kindle prop is lost or visibly damaged, they simply fish another returned for screen gradient issue sample out of the box and resume recording.

We recently had a thread here on MR where the naked Reader slipped off a night table and broke. So for those getting a $200 Voyage, a cover is not that much of an investment to keep it safe.
