Sorry, but basically what Geoff said. Calibre can be configured to run a server and provide your books. Depending on how you set up your router you could connect via any internet connection from any where in the world as long as your calibre server is running and the computer is connected to the internet.
You basically log in via a self defined user name and password from the browser on your kobo, via the ip address of your internet connection and a correctly configured port. if you hit the calibre side of the forums you will find instructions on how to do this. I am not very good at explaining the how its down stuff. And someone here may offer more detailed help.
