Well, I happen to think the Kindle is pretty barebones and reliable, which is why I like it.
Dunno how much it costs where you are, though.
RE: frontlights, it really depends on how much night reading you do. I usually read with the bedroom light on, but something to think about for married people is if one's spouse would be okay with that. Not yet my concern.
