The spouse wants to get it purchased ASAP for an upcoming birthday of mine (no, don't bother asking when/how many) and so...{sigh}, your thoughts would be most welcome.

P.S. I've had a few IBM THinkPads for business laptops.
They haven't been my favorites re. design either, I back then preferred Toshiba Satellite Pro for example.
But the ThinkPads back then had been extremely well built, just not caring much about "style".
In my book, Lenovo is far from that kind of design and quality. On the other hand: Most manufacturers have dropped in quality, seems to be the general trend...
