----------------------------------------------------------

This tutorial will explain how to upload an image to imgur.com and add it to a forum post.

You do not need an account at imgur.com, so this is a useful option if you don't already have anywhere to upload photos. You can register at imgur, but you don't have to.

Go to imgur.com and click upload images button at the top of the page.

Upload the image. You can drag & drop the image, or click browse your computer and choose the image from the dialogue box. Click Start Upload.

When it is uploaded, there will be a series of links to the right of the image. Select the text from the link labelled BBCode (message boards & forums).

Go to your forum post, and press CTRL-V (or right-click and select paste) to paste the code from your computer's clipboard to the post. The code will be something like this:

PHP Code:
[IMG]http://i.imgur.com/onXpElr.jpg[/IMG]
----------------------------------------

In response to a query, I then added this:

When you uploaded, there will have been links above the image saying something like "First image", "Second image", "Third image". You can use those to switch between uploaded images.

Alternatively, just upload a single image at a time (that's the simpler option). You can still paste multiple image links into a single post. In writing the tutorial, I assumed people would only upload a single image at a time.
This is a test.

OMG, Russell, that is SO EASY. I was able to post everywhere with it. I didn't open an account yet but probably will.

I used the deletion link, though, and all the photos I posted (like the Flash Fiction one here) are still there. I thought the photos on the forums no longer appeared when the link on IMGUR is deleted. Is that not the case?

And like on Mediafire (or Flickr for that matter) when you have an account you can decide if you want certain things in your account "private" or "public." Do you happen to know if that's the case with IMGUR?

This is awesome. Thanks. (And great tutorial! Simple. Concise.)
