I've been there, but with a Sony device...

I had placed it on the bed and forget it was there. In a fit of uncommon activity one morning, I decided to make the bed, so I threw the sheets and blankets onto the floor. I never knew how aerodynamic my Sony 505 was until it sailed about 10 feet away. Fortunately, it was in a case, and the only damage done was cosmetic - very hard to notice.

Some substrate damage can be like a crack in a windshield: changing weather can contribute to the crack eventually expanding.....but, as I mentioned, I hope that the only damage are those burst pixels.
