My parents both encouraged me to read and my mother was the primary school librarian/teacher at my primary school.

All of the children were big readers except my brother whose interest seemed to fizzle out when he got older. My father doesn't read much, but he's been reading a few books here and there since he's retired. I'm buying him Starship Troopers for Christmas as I think he'd really like that novel.
