After reviewing FTDI's free drivers and libraries - -
I decided to go with the OpenSource equivalent:
http://www.intra2net.com/en/developer/libftdi/index.php
and
http://developer.intra2net.com/git/?p=libftdi;a=tree
open and read the README.build in the above tree.

Until I can think of a better way - -
I will probably just define some new control key combinations in MiniCom sources.

I.E: A terminal emulator that can hardware reset, power on/off, and (maybe) USB boot any of the i.MX6 Kindles.
At least one can dream.
