Offhand I think the Dresden Files was better. I loved the "Little Magic Shop" concept and of course the talking skull. (I wish I could find one of those.)

I believe that I was off-base about the acting part of my last statement. The actors are fine, but there is chemistry missing that perhaps will be gained as the series progresses. I do feel however that the overall production is a bit (or maybe a little more than just a bit) over the top with shock-em action.
