Thumbs up Free (Kindle/ePub/DRM-free) Some of the Best from Tor.com 2014 [SF/Fantasy Anthology]

Some of the Best from Tor.com: 2014 Edition by quote-unquote "Various Authors" is a collection of science fiction & fantasy & possibly even some horror short stories originally published on the eponymous website, free courtesy of publisher Macmillan's Tor imprint.

Previous volumes from 2011-2013 are still free in multiple venues, and post #5 by kg3 in this old thread also has links to additional Tor.com freebie collections which have now propagated to nearly all the stores (including obscure ones like BookShout, and regions like the UK which had previously not been free), so you can probably just search for their titles in your favourite venue. ETA: apparently the prior volumes have since become un-free in several countries.

Currently free to pre-order (slated for Jan 6th, 2015) @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK) & Google Play (both available to Canadians, should be DRM-free when they finally pop up). Will no doubt show up in all the usual venues when the time comes.

ETA: officially released, and thus now also free @ B&N (also UK), Kobo & iTunes (both available to Canadians).

And this has been the selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.

Because ever since Tor.com made the decision to remove all the convenient ebook-format worldwide direct downloads for their stories (right after I'd recommended their site to someone manning the Kobo display at Chapters as a source of quality free ebooks to recommend to prospective e-reader purchasers, aarghdammit!) and start monetizing them exclusively in selected countries, it's been fairly nice of them to occasionally release freebie collections of some of them, considering they'd "normally" cost you $0.99 USD (or $1.99 CAD back in the day when our dollar was actually above par, a marketing decision I hope rebounded on the person who made it) per if you weren't up to rolling your own from their website pages.

Enjoy!

Description
(no actual description yet, but the cover image shows at least 26 names, with a good mix of authors including recent Hugo Award-finalists Ken Liu, Jo Walton, Seanan McGuire, John Scalzi, etc.)
