It's also an absolutely ridiculous "fix". "Oh...we updated your device. Surprise--now you get the privilege of deleting all of the apps and content that you've accumulated on it, and all of the different ways you customized things, and you get to do it all over again!!".
The fact that the manufacturer recommends this as the only way to fix the issue is horrifying. The update should be pulled until the problem is actually fixed.

Many of us with T68s can sympathize, trust me. I had to return two of them before getting one that worked properly. Others have their own stories.
There is another possible fix for Play Store. It involves force closing and then wiping the cache and data from the Play Store app and the Google Services Framework app. You then restart your T68. You can find where to do that under settings/extension/application settings. It won't hurt anything, and it sometimes fixes the problem. You may have to sign in again when you go to Play Store again, but you don't lose any apps or app data.
