Or, also as likely: it is just as noticeable as ever, but the "I don't give a darn" attitude kicks in and you simply want to read the book. Who doesn't want to find out who lives and who dies?
With my PW I had this. Worried, worried, oh my this is going to distract me. Well it did because I worried about it bothering me. Once in the book I stop worrying - once in a while it strikes me as "oh blotches and color" for a second before being back in the action.
In hindsight am glad I didn't play the "find my unicorn amongst horses" perfect PW. Very happy with my PW, and my wife never cared eitder way. For her having the built in light was magical enough.
