The NAMES of the collections get synced to the Kobo cloud durng any WiFi connection, along with the names of any books that were purchased from Kobo, in kEpub format, and synced either via WiFi or Kobo Desktop.
This has the side effect that when a device is reset and setup via WiFi, all shelves are restored, and that material from Kobo (again just in kEpub format that was on the shelves) will be on the shelves.
Also; current versions of Kobo Desktop will not install under XP; they require Vista or above. What Windows version does Wine emulate? (There is a thread where someone posted a link to an older version of Kobo Desktop at a Ratutan website).
