Bird Of Paradise (1914)
By Ada Leverson (1862–1933)
Set in 1913, the heroine, Bertha Kellynch, is pretty and intelligent. She loves her rather complacent husband. A former suitor, who rejected her and his jealous wife seem intent on disturbing her marital peace.
The author was a close friend of Oscar Wilde and a wit in her own right. Her friends would have appreciated the dedication of this novel about marriage “To Ernest”—her former husband.
We have other novels by Ada Leverson.
