Well, not exactly. Doing a restart on its own did nothing. It was only after the combination of rolling back a version and ticking the option in the plugin to attempt to support newer firmware.
When I have the time, I'll go back to 2.8.0 and uncheck the option in the plugin and report back. I shall also, as you suggest, run a check on the database.
