I had the same experience with most styli. I tried different styli again and again in vain. Then I google searched and found out that DAGI works well on rooted Nook Tablets. It's not totally responsive when it comes to drawing, but when it comes to writing it does okay--almost as good as using a finger. And for tapping icons (applications), it's great.

I purchased extra stylus tips on eBay and, lo and behold, the seller told me he/she was sending me a P505 stylus as well--for only $13! I'll dig up the link... *searching* If you choose to purchase the tips, you could ask them if they'd also send you a P505 stylus.

EDIT: I looked at the description page for the DAGI P508 stylus and it works on a Kindle Fire. *searching* It seems the P505 works on the Kindle Fire, as well. I don't know if you have a Kindle Fire or not... It might work on the Kindle you have.
