Free (Kindle/Kobo UK) Fear No Evil [Liverpool PI Humorous Ghost Mystery]

Fear No Evil by Liverpool-resident Debbie Johnson is a mystery/crime investigative thriller with a touch of the supernatural, starring a feisty Liverpool PI who looks into a suspected murder which is blamed on ghosts, which may or may not be a lot more real than she believes, free courtesy of publisher HarperCollins' Maze imprint.

The customer reviews seem to indicate that this is on the humorous side, with some likening it to Janet Evanovich, Paul Cornell, and Ben Aaronovitch, should you happen to particularly like those writers, and say that this won the Harry Bowling Prize, whatever that is. Also, I had no idea there was such a thing as the Scouse Mafia, though I suppose there must be some equivalent or other.

Currently free @ Amazon UK, & Kobo (most likely only available to the UK), and may possibly drop @ B&N UK & iTunes UK in another few days (linked for your price-drop check convenience) if the typical pattern of HC UK multi-store freebie-ization holds.

Unlikely to cross the pond, as we've a had a very low transmigration rate for HarperCollins UK freebies to date. It does seem to be on sale for $1.99 though, in Canada at least.

WANT THE PERFECT HALLOWEEN READ?

The dead don't like to be ignored…

Jayne McCartney, Liverpool's only female private eye, is soon to get a crash course in this and other ghost-related facts.

Until now she’s kept her snooping firmly to the dodgy, sometimes dangerous – but definitely human – Liverpool underworld. But that all changes when an elderly couple approach her with a terrifying story…

Their daughter, a 19-year-old student, died falling from her halls’ window. But she didn't jump, they insist – she was pushed. By a ghost.

Who or what is walking the halls of Hart House? And will this case end up haunting Jayne forever…?
