If your library does not use OverDrive Advantage (e.g. they are not part of a consortium) then you do not want to enter in your card details, since the plugin must spend time every search to login.

Discovered books is different. It merely opens the book in your browser, using a link. Just like the links in the Book Details panel. Just like a link in a word document.
You can be logged in or not, it makes no difference. Either way the book page will open up; if you click "Borrow" it will open a request and if necessary prompt you to validate with a login before sending you to your Bookshelf.
Ok... that makes sense... thanks to you and eschwartz for taking the time to explain and clarify. --- Hope you don't take these questions the wrong way. I love this plugin. You did a great job and it's appreciated!
