I haven't always been a Mac person but I do like my 13" MBA, my first Mac, bought last year. At the time, as pwalker mentions, it would have cost as much or more to buy an equivalent Windows ultrabook (think Sony Vaio Z). The hardware really is quite good. The trackpad is unmatched, the keyboard is as good as it gets in that form factor (and backlit), the chassis is amazingly solid, etcetera.

I remember when there was a "Apple tax" on all their products, like +$200 for the same printer, but it is only true for a few products today and many of those (iPad) can still be debated due to other benefits.
