In that size range, I believe it's still possible, with enough research and some luck, to buy a set with a better picture at a lower price if your forgo smart features.
Also, there are some highly functional HDMI switches on Amazon for under 10 bucks, so if you find a gorgeous set with too few ports, you can fix that.
I'm very happy with the 3 port HDMI smart switch I got, with my ~$300 42" LG non-smart TV.
My NEXT set, however, will probably be much larger, smarter and more expensive...just waiting on those lottery numbers to hit....
