Both, I think. I suggested that they should have notified me of the deal, given that I've been a long-time Prime customer and have bought five Kindles for family so far. Living in Alaska we also use Prime's free shipping A LOT -- virtually all other internet retailers want to charge exorbitant fees to ship even small items up here. I have friends in the bush (living off the road system) who get most of their dry goods and snack food using Prime -- far cheaper than shopping at the very limited local store, or paying $1.00/lb to ship from Anchorage

If there's one thing I've learned about Amazon, it's that it never hurts to ask for a deal or special accommodation.
