They must be overwhelmed by returns right now. I didn't stand up for myself with the PW1, I settled, and have regretted it ever since. If you can see it, others can see it, it is a defect and not your lighting.

Yes I could reorder, but I think I'll wait a bit and buy from Best Buy if/when the screen lighting improves--much easier to return, I can return it on the spot. I agree it's the party line, and agree with the software update rubbish, and politely called him out on that, it's not a certain lighting situation issue, it's a hardware defect, the issue is present to some degree in all lighting situations. The rep was nice, not his fault, so I didn't belabor the point.
I wonder if these were rushed out too soon to answer for Kobo's H20--which I'd buy if it was easy to return in the U.S..
It's very disappointing--but I can stick with my old basic kindle, which is still my favorite reader, and will remain so until I can get a Voyage with an evenly lit screen.
