This is unlikely to do what you want. The plugin will read from the device and store the annotation in calibre, but it doesn't go the other way.

And since I've just installed both Calibre and Annotations, they are latest versions. And I have Yosemite running on my Mac.

When does calibre crash? At startup or when you try to use the plugin?
