Aldiko, BTW, is one of my favorite epub readers on android tablets. We have a canned instruction to send to our authors who, previewing their books on Aldiko, send us frantic emails saying, e.g. "All the italics are GONE!!!" We usually only have to send it once.
It's not just Aldiko [although, thank you for reminding me], it's others as well. I honestly can't recall them all. I can tell you that "Ultra eBook Reader" is a total abortion for modern-day mobis!!! That one nearly gave me a stroke with an extremely, extremely difficult client. I don't even know how she FOUND the damned thing!

Oh, and I gotta say I LOVE my job as a "bookmaker" (I presume you mean an e-book creator, rather than Vinnie down at the pool hall) for a publisher that does mostly fiction, seldom poetry, and almost never requires tables. We've had few compliments, *ahem*, and so far no major complaints about the formatting. We try to comply with the ADE-compliant readers, of course, and all the Kindles in so far as possible (Kindle for iPhone is a ... challenge) and most major readers. But if someone complained about it not working on their rare, unobtainium reader, I guess it'd be "Xin loi" and "All the best. Bye."

Life is too short.

Well, Albert, I admit: if life were only full of fiction, I could be a cheerier person, I think. We do a TON of non-fiction; at least for us, most of the fiction low-hanging-fruit seems to have been plucked. We just took in a 1200 page "automotive parts"-type catalogue...oh, boy. ;-) in addtion to an 800-page tome on Net dating scams and an upcoming workout book with 598 images. And that's just 3 of our books...out of ~150-ish that are in right now. Joy and frabjous day.

And k for "unobtainium." It's one of my fave phrases!
