I have no problem with anyone reading the book and pointing out where they feel racism may have surfaced. In fact that's plays a big role in my interest in the book. And society often is the one that decides if a book is or isn't racist. Many who ban Tom Sawyer today do so because of some of its language, but at the time when Mark Twain wrote it society was a lot different than it is now.
