The 1040x1387 is the pixel equivalent to the physical display's full screen. It is a limit of the screen itself. You would need to find a new screen to exceed that limitation.
The PowerOff display is an HTML page, so you can have a combination of images and text on the page. Of course you can also create any image using tools like Gimp2.
