No one wants to be that company selling ~$200 hardware with a two-year warranty against accidents, with free one year subscriptions that are obviously not going to get renewed.
The other guys are just laughing at how much charity Amazon is doing for its customers.
I find my HD 6 a bit slow. I hope they bother to do some optimizations. I was digging through it the other day and saw that it was pretty much the same software they ship in the better Fires, with just the extra stuff pulled out (the references are still there). So essentially, if we somehow got root, it'd be a one step process to get Mayday on these things.
